Zubbit requires a website to support iframes in order to display your Call-to-Action on the page. When a page is not supported, you can still create a short link with retargeting, but your Call-to-Action Advert will not appear.

When attempting to use a page that is not supported, you will see this message:

However Zubbit also checks if the mobile version of a website supports iframes, and if it does it will use that instead and give you the following warning so you know its done that:

There are some sites where Zubbit won’t work fully and one of them is YouTube. It just means they’ve added an extra layer of security to block the ability to show advertising on top of their website.

On the whole we respect the website’s view if they wish to block external content and sharing in this way but have made an exception for YouTube as its generally full of public content.

So we do have a couple of workarounds that you can do with YouTube:

1) Using Call-to-Action Links – You can put your Zubbit link on top of a YouTube video by using this URL format – https://www.youtube.com/embed/YykjpeuMNEk – when you create your zubbit link and just replace the embed code at the end with the one from the video you want to share. If you go to YouTube and click share you can see the option to get the embed code. This will show the video full screen with your Zubbit call-to-action over the top.

2) Using Retargeting Links – This allows you to share any content but with no call-to-action over the top BUT it does let you add your own remarketing tracking pixel which means anyone clicking on your Zubbit link and watching the video can be added to your re-marketing campaigns on things like FaceBook and AdRoll.

Well there are two answers to this question.

First up, we’ve got two types of Zubbit links. Firstly Zubbit short links (with or without retargeting) either created manually or via RSS Feeds will work 100% of the time. So if you are using Zubbit to build custom audiences with tracking and remarketing pixels then it will always work.

When it comes to using Zubbit to display Call-To-Action Adverts over the content, whereas we believe Zubbit will work with most websites, we obviously can’t guarantee that as it’s impossible for us to test every website in the world but we believe it works with most.

Zubbit uses iframe technology to load web pages. Some sites with high-security settings sometimes block iframes for security reasons. Examples are banking websites or secure payment sites like PayPal where it makes sense for there to be a higher level of security on a page.

There will always be exceptions where a large content site like Forbes, for instance, has decided to block this sort of overlaid adverts.

Could we get around it? Yes we’ve probably could but we’ve decided to respect the views of the website owner who has decided they don’t want their content shared on this way. We believe most of the big link shortener’s like ours have also decided the same as its the ethical thing to do, and it maintains our credibility as we don’t want to be seen as a spam tool that disrespects the intentions of website owners.

Having said that though, don’t worry, as we still believe that Zubbit works on 95% of web sites on the internet because most websites want to share their content, after all, that’s what the internet and world wide web is all about, sharing content and links.

There will always be some that won’t though so to double-check before you start creating Zubbit links from a particular website then you can use this free checker tool or just create your Zubbit link and press the “Test” button before you start using it. If you use the domain checker tool, remember you don’t need to check every page you want to share but just the domain name – like www.wired.com – and that will tell you if that website allows iframe sharing or not.

Also when you create a link in Zubbit it shows you a preview of the website you intend to share so if it does not appear then that means the website is blocking shares in this way.

Zubbit’s key function is about sharing content so sites that are more web app like than content sites like Social Media based sites like YouTube and Facebook will have problems with Zubbit. However we deem YouTube videos as content so we do have a couple of work around’s that you can implement to let you share YouTube content

So we believe you will never run out of great content to use with Zubbit but every so often you might just get unlucky and hit a website in that 5% that don’t want to share their content and of course if your using Zubbit with no call-to-actions and just using it for audience building then it will work 100% of the time even with sites like YouTube.
